PG had this idea to produce an instrumental based on a song by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. That we did. Violin and hand drums and all. Don't forget about the Rhodes. I see why they use that one; it's smooth. I noticed on my new producer template that the click of the kick was comin' in hot compared to mixes I listen to on Pandora. Same with the bass, real heavy. It does sound good there, but for matching the sound for alternative music like my new songs, I knew I needed to switch that up.

Last night I said to PG "I just got back from the studio. I re-engineered everything after I turned down that bass and kick and click. Pulled every trick in the book, bus limiting after multibands and compression. Sidechain. All carefully staged. Now it sounds vivid and full and still absolutely massive bass came back anyway. Sounds so glorious. Full spectrum wall of sound. Snare ringing and hanging out with you, every great quality you could ever want from a mix."
