Radio edit is a term for censored music. Anything that gets public broadcast is regulated by the FCC.
What makes it interesting is that there is not a set list of words. It goes by what is generally offensive to the community. You could certainly press your luck and find a context for cuss words that's passable; although that is very rare. When I edit, I imagine some kids are there, I'll cut anything they could pick up on that isn't appropriate. "Ear muffs"
You only need to delete the smallest snippet required to obscure the offensive meaning. You could even leave xxxx"ing" It's fine if an adult can infer what it means, as long as the kids don't go home singing "xxxx the police"
