I've been going with the creative flow, and this is one of the results. | E Stew - Wonderland | I have a few more I'm writing to right now that are lit up and on their way. I found a new area as far as chords that now I like to hang out in. Interestingly, it's the same chord I started this album off with also, on "Lucid Dreams 2" I just resolve it like normal there, on these new ones I'll hang out around there or extend, used as a flavoring. What chord is that? Okay, it's not a huge secret, just the most overlooked chord on the planet, the half-diminished seventh chord.
That guitar part is ferociously hard to play, although it does not sound like it. This was written on piano, for a change, so the guitar, aka me, had to sort out how to play the same thing. I went with finger style instead of pick on this one also; the tone and agility is better suited. The guitar can't put too many notes too closely together, but the piano is really good at it. So, I ended up having to move the second voice of the chords down an octave in the guitar part of the chorus. It's kinda hanging by itself down there, but it voiceleads the same. Really interesting is that it has the 7th of the chord in the lowest voice at one point. Well, aside from the bass guitar itself. We love the bass, and it's in drop D for this song.
